Volunteer Opportunities
Role: The Community News Crew is our grassroots media team—made up of writers, puzzle creators, interviewers, researchers, and citizen journalists—who help tell the real stories of our community. From attending city council meetings to creating crosswords and capturing local voices, this team brings news, joy, and accountability to the neighborhood.
Responsibilities:-
Attend local events and city council meetings to report back to the community

Write, edit, and publish stories that matter to residents

Conduct interviews with neighbors, elders, organizers, and more

Create engaging content such as puzzles, comics, or photo essays

Collaborate with others to maintain a trusted, people-powered newsroom
-
Role: Dedicated volunteers who help home-bound seniors feel seen, valued, and connected to their community. In addition to delivering and preparing meals, volunteers build meaningful relationships through conversation, games, shared activities, and community outings.
Responsibilities:-
Deliver meals and share time with local seniors in their homes

Offer companionship through games, conversation, or simply being present

Accompany seniors to community events and help them stay engaged

Notice changes in behavior, wellness, or routine and communicate with the tea

Build consistent, trusting relationships that foster dignity, connection, and safety

Role: Vital stewards of food access in the community. These volunteers visit public community fridges to monitor fill levels, clean and sanitize as needed, and ensure each fridge is operating safely and effectively. Their attention to detail and commitment to dignity help keep food available, safe, and accessible for all.
Responsibilities:-
Visit assigned fridges regularly to monitor stock levels and condition

Clean and sanitize the interior and surrounding area of each fridge

Report on any maintenance, safety, or health concern

Notify the team when fridges are low, overfilled, or need attention

Help share updates or fridge needs with the broader community

Role: Community Event Staff volunteers help bring our neighborhood gatherings to life. Whether it’s setting up chairs for porch conversations, managing supply tables at festivals, or welcoming guests with a smile, these volunteers are the heart behind the scenes. Their support ensures that every event runs smoothly, feels safe, and reflects the spirit of connection that defines Community Made.
Responsibilities:-
Assist with event setup, breakdown, and logistics (tables, signage, supplies, etc.

Greet guests, provide directions, and answer basic questions

Help run activity stations (crafts, games, food tables, etc.)

Ensure safety and accessibility throughout the event

Represent Community Made with warmth, positivity, and reliability

Role: We welcome all who would like to contribute—even if you don’t see a role that fits your vision. The awesome thing is: you can create your own! If you see a need, have a skill, or feel inspired to bring something new to life, we encourage you to take initiative.
